Does anyone else here like to cook or watch anything on the food network! If so what. What foods do you like and how do you like them made, discuss here! :)

I don´t know if I´m that good of a cook or is it just that I cook so rarely...If I cook I keep it pretty simple. Anyways yesterday I made feta-spinach pastries and they were DELICIOUS. I adore feta-cheese and the spinach keeps my brother away from them  Next time I´ll use a little less onion though..I think these pastries will be my new all-time favourite.

I'm not a good cook, but I love doing it tho.

Now when looking back at my choices on school I think I actually should've chosen "cooking-school" rather than ordinary high school. There is something unique by being able to make food that other appreciates :)

But nothing is like making the food YOU like tho. I have no "advanced skills" in cooking. I make no things from the scratch. I buy half-fabricated stuff that needs added meat, salad and that sorta stuff. That's why I think it would've been fun to go to "cooking-school".

Maybe I should try to experiment more - but I guess that have to wait until I move for myself.

For everyone who wants to cook but can't trust me its simple! All you have to do is be carefull. You can take basic ingredients and add it to somthing already made! For example!

4 chicken breasts sliced and chopped - marinade in olive oil and some parsley and garlic.

Boiil 5 cups of spaghetti and drain. - add selected sauce. (Can be store bought). Now just add some fresh garlic and herbs and toss the choped chicken in with it! It's simple! If you have any questions you can ask me :)

got a question.

How do you marinate/season Brussels spouts (I'm not a bg fan of the vegatable but I got some for tonight and I can't find anything on the net ). I don't want to make a recipe over them just to boil them ( just about so they don't become dlmy ) and eat them.
Plain ( like the Brits would eat them doesn't count as a marinate /seasoning option, I've tried them plain and I didn't like them )
So do you put oil, lemon, or what?

Thanks Brussel sprouts fans :D

oh by the way, cooking is extremely easy - I'm detoxing at the moment and cook a lot of vegetables. My favourite is spinach, you can really feel better straight away by eating that vegetable.

Just boil them in water until they're done. And then coat them in olive oil w/ garlic powder, pepper and other herbs you'd like.

thanks, so garlic powder and pepper goes well with them. Actually that was good timing because I just finished cooking them.

Soo.. What did I do tonight? Kalimare (if I spell it right), salads, gyros, rice and red rice, fish, and stuff like that. Must say it looked and smelled pretty good (A)

I make some fine cereal.

But really, I can cook all sorts of things in the oven and stove...but being vegetarian, I don't get the chance to cook for the 'rents because they're meat eaters.

My favourite detox foods are:

Lentil soup ( green lentils, that ones that become brown after cooking - with onions and garlic, olive oil I put potatoes in it too, I think it's a good combination; served with vinegar of course; a classic Greek dish - takes half an hour to make )

Miso soup, classic Japanese ( my quickie would be with rice noodles and shiitake mushrooms, spring onions - a better choice might be to replace the noodles with different vegetables - potatoes, carrots, courgettes, etc )
Use the miso paste in the last stage of the preparation and remember not to boil it - it will lose its nutricious value that way - not to mention its taste ).

Brown rice ( ok, this is not quite a "detox" food - cause I use red pesto, feta cheese and I top it with sundried tomatoes - adding spring onions as well will give it a special touch ).
But you can make it using the vegetables of your choice..only it comes a little bit blunt like that. I haven't tried the red rice yet.

Rocket+radish+watercress - they're all from the same family and have similar "spicy" flavours - gives a special touch in salads - so does spring onion ( I like it, don't I? )

Steamed broccoli + cauliflower florets as salad - that's very fast to make and a classic detox food

and finally:

green tea as a substitute to normal tea or coffee. It goes well with a hint of lemon.

Yes yes yes!!! Tea is the best thing in the world. Regular tea, green tea, green tea with lemon, green tea with mint flavour, red tea, white tea, fruit tea, vanilla etc. etc.... Nothing out there better than tea.

spyretto

My night to cook a few days ago, and I made Greek food (again). Spaghetti with what they call "Sucadelapjes" (kind of meat, don't know about the english word), and that was served in a sauce made of Red wine, tomato's, and onions. Even my brother loved it and he hardly eats anything.

Hahaha! Sounds like me..

Hazlenut Coffee

Ok, first you need to boil the water.
You get a cup, (coffee aproved)
you add sugar, as much as you want.
Then add coffee, and then crush the Hazlenuts
and add them after you added the boiling water to the
cup..then wait for it to cool down a bit..unless u want
to burn ur tounge..but yeah..
Thats how u make Hazlenut Coffee

mmm..mmmm..mmm..mmm. good!

Anyone want any Mexican recipes?
