This past Christmas holidays I have watched some of the gayest films ever.
I was so afraid that the hype around Dreamgirls would ruin the movie for me but I loved it. I didn't think it was the greatest movie ever, not even for a musical (wasn't as good as Chicago), but I loved it. Jennifer Hudson killed that shit, though she doesn't deserve an award/nomination I wouldn't be surprised if she did. And as much as I hate the man, Eddie Murphy was probably the one who surprised me the most. Now he should get something.
The songs themselves were great. I always thought "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" involved too much shouting, even during the film I wasn't impressed but for some reason I can't stop listening to it now. I am so getting the fucking album.

I also watched History Boys which was... amusing, to say the least. I wasn't too partial with passing the whole teacher-groping-student's-balls as something funny but they are British afterall. It was just completely foreign to me to have such overt homosexuality expressed (among boys!) in a highschool setting without anyone's ass getting kicked. You guys know how I am with hot guy-on-guy homoerotica.
Terrific!

I just watched D.E.B.S. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367631/)

I was pleasantly surprised, it's actually really funny, it's a parody (of over the top female spy movies like Charlie's Angels) so it's 2nd degree humor. It's better than Austin Powers (no scat), and with lots of schoolgirl uniforms, and with a cute lesbian love story in the main plot, sweet. :D

the queen after reading all the great reviews, i expected a great movie. helen mirren did a great job i think, i liked her also when she played elizabeth I, a really great actrice, tho i liked her most in prime suspect series. there r a few really good moments in the movie, but all in all tooo much diana. especially too much of that tv footage. interesting inside view of the royal family, but they could have done so much more than this...

ok, I finally saw the Departed
Don't you feel that this is a further indication that Hollywood is in deep deep crisis?
Here we have a typical cop film, good one I must admit but best picture?
Are they kidding us? And oh the profanity of the movie every 2 sentences there's either awful swearing or a sexual innuendo even coming from people who are not expected to behave that way - even from the young female shrink?- how bizarre.

The one film from the Oscars I really wanted to see instead was El Labirynto del Fauno. I did and I'm very happy that I did ;) That's an immense film, I would recommend it to anybody. It's not what you expect it to be, it's much much more. For me it's a whole new genre of film actually...what an amazing work.
How bizarre it failed to win the Oscar.

El Labirynto del Fauno I really want to see that one! The last two films I saw were 'Cache' and 'Consequences of Love'. Cache wasn't a very pleasant movie to watch but it was quite good. - All Quiet on the Western Front (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0020629/) ('30) (the book, Remarque's Im Westen nichts Neues, is better as far as I'm concerned)
- Full Metal Jacket (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093058/) ('87)
- The Deer Hunter (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077416/) ('78)
- Apocalypse Now (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078788/) ('79)
- Joyeux Noël (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424205/) ('05)

some russian 'classics' :
- Иваново детство (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056111/) ('62)
- Солярис (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/) ('72) (the newer so-called remake, Solaris (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307479/) ('02), is a completely different movie)
- Табор уходит в небо (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073781/) ('75) (long-praised for its soundtrack and scenery)
- Возвращение (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376968/) ('03) (newer, still easily one of the more interesting titles of the last few years)

some titles recommended only for the strong-hearted (the usual comments vary between 'disgusting' and 'sickening'; however, they do have an intrinsic value) :
- Batoru rowaiaru (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/) ('00)
- Cannibal Holocaust (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078935/) ('80) (hard to find, banned in numerous countries across the world)
- Hei tai yang 731 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093170/) ('88) (hard to find, banned in numerous countries across the world)

and some random 'goodies', spanning across the years :
- Buffalo '66 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118789/) ('98)
- Lilja 4-ever (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300140/) ('02) (Moodysson's masterpiece; also, the one and the only movie, as far as I'm aware, that features both Tatu and Rammstein on its soundtrack)
- Reconstruction (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366943/) ('03)
- Reservoir Dogs (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105236/) ('92) (I still ask myself why the first of Tarantino's titles are somehow more appealing than his newer ones)
- To Kill a Mockingbird (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056592/) ('62) (again, I think the book is better)
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/) ('04) (heh, fresh air)
- Twelve Monkeys (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114746/) ('95)
- Requiem for a Dream (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180093/) ('00)
- Delicatessen (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101700/) ('91)
- Angel Heart (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092563/) ('87)
- Nurse Betty (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0171580/) ('00) (considered to be a relatively 'exotic' title, surprisingly)
- Gia (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123865/) ('98)
- A Perfect World (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107808/) ('93)
- Der Unhold (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118043/) ('96) (sadly, another less known title)
- Whisky (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0331370/) ('04)

Last movie I watched is Sideways. In the moment I watched it i was really stressed and for me it was boring as hell! After every 5 minutes I was like "if it continues this way in the next five minutes I'll stop watching it". :dknow:

(500) Days of Summer

nicely done rom-com, cute and subtle.

A Serious Man

Nice but slightly overrated, is this the Coen's magna opus as some critics said? I beg to differ.

But I wasn't impressed by other films either, for example Paranormal Activity is effective but a bit of a gimmick in essence. It seems that every film that doesn't suck is suddenly regarded as a masterpiece. This one had some genuinely chilling moments though.

diarios de una ninfomana spanish/french production.
english tittle: diary of a sex addict

6/10
not what I expected exactly but is ok,:chupa:
she says she enjoys sex so much, but never love, she falls inlove finally and the man is a total jerk and drogadict psico, then gets into hookery /prostitution business just for fun(not the money) :rev: and she quits to her "job" and founds herself happy realising that she`s what she is a Ninfa!(ninfomana)- sex addict. :girl::nail:THE END.

Notes On A Scandal - Judi Dench as a creepy lesbian was wicked cool! Brilliant drama. Cat Blanchett puts in a wooden performance, though, which is rare for her.

Der Baader Meinhof Komplex - ok movie, notable because every terrorist looked like a fashion model.
Notes On A Scandal Cate Blanchett is such a hot little slut in this film. That little boy is one lucky fucker! Bad Lieutenant with Nick Cage Great film, I loved the scenes when he was smoking crack, hilarious.

Kick Ass and it was as the title suggests, insulting :p
I liked the parodifying of the super hero motif, and it was mildy entertaining but morally very silly. Hope the new kids wisen up a bit and realise this is plain stupid, cause Hollywood will just do what sells, and they have no morals.

Sugar, that was a good story about a Latin American going to the U.S to play pro baseball, the story didn't interest me much but it was very well done.

North by Northwest, the Hitchcock classic. The story was a little naive but in 1959 I'm sure that was groundbreaking stuff. The scenes at the corn field and Mount Rushmore were very well done and innovative.

Iron Man 2 Cute, but all the fuss about a lot of nonsense and no much substance ( or much action )

Really? I saw it a little bit over a year ago, before the fuss was made in the Western world and I liked it, very good thriller, a little in your face but overtly European style. Have you seen Kormakur's Jar City? I thought that one was another piece of good filmaking too ( though less known, of course )

Yeah, of course it's pointless watching the American remakes.
