Since there seem to be quite a few Lacuna Coil fans around here, why not dedicate a small thread to this great band? :D

Agreed! For me Unleashed Memories is just unbeatable, all of the songs are absolutely amazing. Every time I listen to it I'm completely blown away. :D The other albums aren't far behind though.

For anyone who doesn't already have them I've uploaded their videos:

Swamped (http://www.sendspace.com/file/nynz4u) (36.4MB)
Our Truth (http://www.sendspace.com/file/aivcin) (40.2MB)
Enjoy The Silence (http://www.sendspace.com/file/sgywv0) (81.2MB)
Closer (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ppuvxg) (44.7MB)
Heaven's A Lie (http://rapidshare.de/files/15707961/Lacuna_Coil_-_Heaven_s_A_Lie.rar) (38MB) (uploaded by hullala in thae music videos thread)

All very good quality, except maybe Our Truth, but that's still good too. Closer is amazing! Enjoy! :coctail:

Saw them live in Oslo a little while ago. I must admit, I didn't really understand the big fuzz about them. I thought they were kinda boring actually :p

Anyways, I bought the Comalies promo cd when I was in Oslo (haven't listened to it tho). I love promo cds; they're cheap and rare... :D

Dunno, I like them and I'm happy that they're finally having the success they deserve.
I wished something similar happened to the Gathering too - though they don't make the same record twice to get some kind of fanbase ( like LC did ).
The Gathering have their own cult fanbase but I can't see them getting a top 20 album in the US charts any time soon ( like LC did again ).

First there was Paradise Lost, who virtually created the genre by using female vocals in Gothic - though My Dying Bride did it too - Then a second generation of bands like Lacuna and the Gathering who solidifyied the trend by using a full-time female vocalist; And finally a third generation of goth bands - Evanescence comes to mind instantly - who treaded on those steps and put the whole thing into the mainstream. It's ironic that the third generation is the one to get the most recognition.

Oh that's good, I didn't know you like them, I'd imagine they're a bit old school for your tastes but hey, that's cool.
I don't think they're the best live band out there but they're pretty respectable. I prefer their studio material though.

I was into Lacuna Coil waaaaaaaay before they got famous. Nothing's too "old school" for me. :D

Well, I know them since 2001 and the first album I listened from them was In a Reverie. Though they have been active for sure before that. If I had access to a tv rock show I might have known them from before. They only got famous fairly recently - with Comalies and Karmacode. So I don't know who has heard of them first, but I give you that if you like, it's not a contest ;)
Don't like the term old school anyway. Lets just say I'm not much into the new metal bands anymore ( unless it's something amazing of course, there are still a few trully amazing fairly new bands who don't follow any trends, they make their own ) - because I don't think they're very good, and if you look around since the alternative thing became big , there are lots and lots of bands who are heavy without necessarily being labeled "heavy metal" or following trends. It's nowhere as crappy as it was in the 80's where you had those really lame synth pop bands without a note of electric guitar in their music and the really extreme heavy metal posers.

spyretto, I agree with you, most of the new metal bands are so so bad (not all of them but the good ones are rare lol)

first time I've listened to Lacuna Coil it was "To myself I turned" in 2000 or something like that and I fell in love with them (like within temptation few months earlier hehe)
