Okay, this topic should work. Excuse me if I just march in and say sometihng out of context (haven't read any of this thread before, hehe), but either way: I just recently got an insane fascination of Hinoi Team. :D

Japanese ladies (well, girls are more correct) that make Eurodance type of songs. Even some covers of old songs it seems. If I remember correctly "Night of Fire" was a hit years ago...

The fascination is mostly because of the langauge and voices ... just THAT makes me wanna move to Japan - Listen to cute girls talking with a sexy voice. But after reading a bit further after a quick google-search I discovered something that caught me as a surprise: these girls are actually only 14/15 years old - which just made it all wrooong... But still, the music was kinda cool

I've made a new thread out of this because Jpop is quite different from Euro Dance my dear dradeel. ;)

Jpop is entertaining and funny, it's very Japanese though and our western minds can't probably fully understand it, haha… Like, what's up with that dude in that vid?
Anyway, Jpop vids are generally full of sexy girls so even if we don't get it, it's at least nice to watch. Also notice the 'dance game' choreography, excellent. :D

Check out the ParaPara version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO0wIsTmWxc), and that other one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK7-A0EFjL8). :gigi:

Yeah, though as pleasant they may be they look/sound more like a j-version of Steps - minus the dude with the diapers. But there are also other styles like visual kei/rock ( Dir En Grey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhSDZOL_EpU) , Malice Mizer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F143kJea2tw), Luna Sea, Gackt etc. )
pop ( top selling singer Ayumi Hamazaki, The Brilliant Green, Bonnie Pink etc. ) r'n'b ( the most succesful Japanese singer is Utada Hikaru - check out the lush video for Utada's Automatic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVdpE5BeM2s) on youtube
also boy bands - ok, apparently more "mature" than your typical boy band ( L'Arc En Ciel, Mr Children etc. ) and folk ( Kitaro )

I'm sure there are lots of other new bands around, those bands I mention here were "hot" around 2001 so things must have progressed since then.
Jpop's trademark is its quirkiness, like mixing japanese lyrics with ( typically incorrect ) English ;)

I know that perfectly well, but it's not like "typical J-pop". Hehe. ... They make covers of old eurobeat hits that were hot in the mid 90s... And that was my whole mistake; I mixed Eurodance and Eurobeat. I guess there's a little difference? :D

Either way, they're so cuuute :kawai: But mostly it's their voices that I find hot. I looooove japanese :dead:

Hehe, yeah. ParaPara looks cool.
Ayumi Hamazaki
Mmm... aye, she's okay. But I mostly like the Eurobeat-covers of her songs tho. Hehehe.

I looked into my cd-roms and discovered one circa 2000 with lots of random jpop songs, so I thought of uploading some:

Speed - Go Go Heaven (http://www.sendspace.com/file/o34aea) they were the Spice Gilrs of Japan at the time - but I don't think they lasted more than a couple of years.
Morning Musume - Seishun Jedai 1.2.3 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/7gwv4h) The most successful manufactured band - More like the S-Club 7 or Japan cause they change their members all the time.
Mr Children - "Not Found" (http://www.sendspace.com/file/e3w4l8) ( they're one of the best pop/rock bands in Japan, having sold more than 25 million albums )
Noriko Sakai - Aoi Usaki ( Jade Green Rabbit ) (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kwi1j6) I remember I liked that cute little ballad very much at the time.

Anybody else interested in j-pop? I'd like to know which ones are the "hottest" acts at the moment. ( being lazy to look )

I remember how hard I got blown off when I tried to making a thread of a similar caliber.

Spyretto, Seishun Jidai 1.2.3! isn't a Morning Musume song, it's Pucchimoni's (a now defunct spin-off group formed by MM members).

I get new jpop mp3s practically every day, although my main focus is on Hello! Project. Although I'm predicting a slow, painful death for this thread because there just isn't THAT much interest in japanese pop, I'd be happy to share.

Ok, well I just got from 2 week in Tokyo and was surprised to see how pervasive hip hop and r 'n b has become since I was there last. I wanted to get the foxxi mis-q album for my sister but didn't get a change - has anyone got it to share (pretty please!) ;)

Here they are on youtube if anyone's interested:

Yeah, apologies for the wrong information given :hmmm:

Yeah, that's correct, that's why I refrained from starting a thread in the first place.
