Yeah,,, I had made this thread in the spanish forum before,,,. I don't really know if there's a thread with this tittle or content, if there's already one,, sorry :( --..... I wanted to share with you the voice of one of the most talented singers in Ecuador, now. His name is Jorge Luis del Hierro,, he's from Guayaquil (Ecuador),,, I must confess I don't know anything else about him,,,,, just that his music is great..... Well I'v uploaded his best songs,(for me),, so far.....

Prisionero (pop version) (http://rapidshare.de/files/19065672/jorge_luis_del_hierro_-_prisionero__version_pop_.mp3.html)
Dime quién pierde más (http://rapidshare.de/files/19066099/jorge_luis_del_hierro_-_dime_quien_pierde_mas_2_.mp3.html)

The first ones are original themes,,, he's also sung this cover from ABBA,,, in Spanish
Chiquitita (http://rapidshare.de/files/19066084/jorge_luis_del_hierro_Chiquitita.mp3.html),,,,,

Could you let us know your favorite native singer/band, tell us his/her/their story and why you like them,,,,?......

Would you be so kind not to post thread titles in caps? Thanks.

I don't really know of any Polish artists except Blog 27 (LOL thankfully they hate their own country so... :D) and Ich Troje (who were pretty huge 2 years or so ago, as far as I remember) who are competing in Eurovision this year and have done so before.

Maybe robbie can give more info. :rose:

As far as Swedish artists go... bleh. The Cardigans are Swedish, are they not? Most Swedish artists I hear these days are either 12 or 50 years old. :none:

Austria does not have much tradition in 'entertainment music', but there are some who reached at least some notice:
Falco (http://www.falco.bkl.at/index.asp?lg=EN) - He is dead for a long time now, but his mythos is alive in Austria.
Christina Stürmer (http://www.christinaonline.at/content/index.php) - A nice girl, but her music is not quite what I like.
L'Ame Immortelle (http://www.lameimmortelle.com/eng/index_e.html) - My favorites, for the (very) different taste.

edit: On MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/lameimmortelle) you can see the video of their new single "Dein Herz". Iloveitforever. Tatu-creative-people look, how clips can be!

After Forever are great, and Within Temptation aren't bad. It seems there are a lot of great metal bands with female vocalists around your way.

I always feel an urge to be a spokesman for true norwegian music, and luckily I now discovered this thread  So I felt the need to rant abit. Hehe.

Well, Norway is mostly known for our black metal, and since norwegian black metal is a well known, highly valued brand of metal, it's become the biggest cultural export article from Norway. Some bands even manage to sell millions of records (i.e. Dimmu Borgir which is one of the biggest bands from Norway in general. Only Röyksopp and of course a-ha are believed to have sold more than them).

Besides Dimmu Borgir (http://www.dimmu-borgir.com), you have the old legends in a band called Mayhem (http://www.thetruemayhem.com), and Emperor (http://www.emperorhorde.com) which I saw live at the Inferno Festival, and which I also posted some pictures of, and of course Darkthrone (http://www.darkthrone.no), the real definition of good ol' black metal. :)

Now, I'm not sure how many in here who'll even check out any of these bands, but I just felt like posting this shit anyways

That aside, there's a lot of norwegian music that should be "well tasting" for most of you. I already mentioned Röyksopp and a-ha, but the bands Apoptygma Berzerk (www.apoptygmaberzerk.de), Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band (www.ralphmyerz.net), Zeromancer (www.zeromancer.com) (half Norwegian, half American) or even DumDum Boys (www.dumdumboys.no) could prove themselves to be a pleasure for your ears. Personally I love the album "You and Me Against the World" by Apoptygma Berzerk - Electro poprock at its very best!

These bands couldn't be called "native", since it's all electronica, electropop and rock, but Norway hasn't really got a native music genre. We have some native instruments, but few are doing anything constructive and creative with them. Of course, you have the folk rock band Gåte (www.gaate.no), but yeah, I guess that's it :)

If there is any genre that could truly be called norwegian, I'd say it's black metal, but oh well.. Hehe. I guess you don't play black metal at max volume for tourists who just wants a little piece of norwegian culture, now do you? :D

dradeel, we are taking the word 'native' in its broadest sense here, simply meaning 'from your country', as long as the artists are from your country it's all good, they don't have to make ancient traditional music. :p

Aussie Music is the best! ok well apart from tATu and Mylene that is, hahaha.

Kylie + Dannii Minogue (ok you should know them)

Rogue Traders - lead singer is on neighbours, they're great! like rock/pop/electronica... their new single has just come out in UK (came out here last May) it's called 'VOODOO CHILD'

Tina Arena - well she doesnt really care about us anymore seeing as she lives in france and sings in french (but heck, thats cool!)

but me... my favourite is 'Mandy KANE' (hes a guy...) check him out here: www.myspace.com/mkmusik he was with WARNER, but now hes gone independant and released his latest EP "Murder in the Daylight" - its freaking awsome!

Hmmm... there're hardly any internationally known stars here on the sunny side of the Alps. Laibach are the only one that come to mind. They were at least semi-popular all over the globe and served as an inspiration for Rammstein and the like.
Our most popular group nowadays is Sidharta. But they're too straight-forward rock-ish to ever amount to anything beyond our borders. This (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5wsucs) is my fav track Na Soncu (In The Sun).
Another one of my fav bands (which is hardly popular in Slovenia even) is Melodrom and their fantastic melancholy tune September (http://www.sendspace.com/file/oosjk6).

I always claimed our biggest international star was Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, but he doesn't really consider himself a Slovene anymore, I think. There's also the polka king Frankie Yankovich (no relations to Weird Al, although they were friends).

I still thank you for that song... though i like their song Plantina just as much as Na Soncu.

My "native" singers are ... umm, well... the lead singer from that band Train (they sang that song about a girl name Virginia and that song about space) is from the town north of me. And Christina Augielera (or however it's spelled) grew up in the town south of me, many of my friends at my school went to the same high school as her... but yeah, those are the only Pennsylvanians i can think of, other than the Philly rappers (but i don't count them) and this is why i don't listen to my quote unquote native singers and bands... haha
