Well... I was downloading some vids for my PDA and thought may be it was interesting for anyone to see what russian music is like. Here are some links for the vids. Vids are mp3's size (about 6 Mb), so a picture is rather small (192х144) but it's enough to see what's going on there. I'll be adding some links for vids, mp3s, sites and pics of russian artists from time to time, so check this thread if U are interested. These vids aren't my favorites. Just ones I found.

VIA GRA - Ubey moyu podrugu (Kill my girlfriend) (http://www.clipaki.bestform.ru/rus/viagra/index.htm). I like them. Everybody does. This is not their hottest video but the funniest one. Don't take it seriously. It's just a parody on our old-fasioned song-festival Pesnya Goda.

Yeah, D... 'Gays' was the only thing I had in my mind after seein the vid... So, guess Kiper loves not only 'vehicles and roads and speed' but gays as well... she was working on Y&L's image... now Smash that looked much straighter before...

cool, too bad about the BG music scene - I've found a couple of mp3's and videos on some sites (like http://mp3.kafence.com ) but I'm not sure how useful or up-to-date it is ... and it takes me forever to download :(

Nah... EVERY time I see him, I wanna cry... think U understand me, Rach, U are one of few ppl here who CAN understand what's his song about. I've seen him many times [he's from our first ever Star Factory] and he was always like that... but there were moments he sounded normal. Few moments... but even one is enough not to say he's ALWAYS insane, right? :rolleyes:

Thank you Sunny poison ! Song was already familiar to me but I didn`t know it`s name and video was new to me. This girl has very strong voice. When I listen to her I get this feeling that she knows what she wants. :D I`m just guessing here but I think that I would like more those slow songs.
Well today I watched that VIA GRA - Ubey moyu podrugu (Kill my girlfriend). .. I am very very attracted with the title of the song .. LOL . and then I watched the video..another gay touch? LOL .. the video is funny .. but I wish I could understand what is the story behind the song .. I suspect they said "Kill my girlfriend, Kill my girlfriend,Kill my girlfriend," Lots of time . but I can't figure out from the plot of the video.
Well I can't watch all the videos at one time . because I admit it took sometimes to download the video from here those the size is just small .. so I watch one over and over because another download time will be .. :hmmm: ..

Ok. I'll give some info on Gluk'OZA this time :)
She released her first video last winter and as for as I know, she was a schoolgirl then. Not sure about now, may be she finished her school already.
Her real name is Natasha Ivanova and she's the author of all lyrics and music. For quite a long nobody knew who she was and many ppl thought it was Aguzarova or Zemfira behind the project. What can I say... her texts are interesting and sincere, it's hard to mix her with any other singer... I dunno.

I was reading the Nichya forum at their website, and someone had posted about an artist called Popolam. I don't know anything about this guy, but I watched his video and I really like it! Of course, I don't know what it all means, but the song sounds neat. I'd describe it as techno-rock

The plot of the video, D? Nothing special. Just the parody on that festival... and what goes on behind the scenes (there's someone who looks like Kirkorov and this someone tryes to hit on someone who looks like Masha Rasputina and someone who looks like Alla Pugachova /Kirkorov's wife/ doesn't like this for some reason :gigi: all characters a VERY known in Russia). The song is about a girl who asks her bf to kill her female friend as she's VERY jelous and can't live with this shadow behind her and bf. Nothing special. But looks funny :gigi:

Hm... the site says it's their first video... I'm somehow sure I saw one before... it was awful, so cheap and stupid...
Besides, I don't like them being so artificial. It just happened so that I knew about this band much earlier than it appeared. I'm studying journalism and lots of interesting things happens at my uni. A friend of mine one day came and asked if we knew any twin brothers. Her friend - producer wanted to make a band. He had this 'twins' idea. And being twins was the ONLY requirement. He said they'll teach them or use computers to make them sound ok. They'll use enough make-up to make them looking good and so on... Everything was planned.
Than I saw that lame video and thought 'bad idea', guy. It won't work! They dissapeared and now I see them coming back, inviting some ppl (Polienko, Galoyan...) who worked with the band we all know, and saying they'll do something 100% better than TATU... Hm... nice. We'll see.

well, cirrus, I haven't seen this vid... don't want wasting my time and money. I'll see it on TV if it's good enough. But the one I saw about year or 2 ago was awful. But if U enjoy music and vid, why not? It's all for fun, right? Why should U care about band's history?

:gigi: Iska, what do you need my opinion for - you know BG music better than me; I can say that the pop stars/chalga singers I saw definitely didn't seem overly modest to me though ;) about the same as Russian, probably :gigi:

I saw a little bit of their video on MTV EMA ( like 5 seconds ;) )
So I watched that Grebenschikov dude instead, and he's quite an interesting fella. It's the kind of artistic work that one needs to be p***ed drunk or stoned to appreciate. ( and if )

You know the singer Akula who had the song "Malo" and "DJ-something"? Is she still around? And also, you know the band Chinchilla or whatever it's called? They sang the song "Uhodya-Uhodi" and a bunch of others. Are they still around/popular? And what western artist would you compare them to? What genre are they considered to be?

On those lyrics you posted it says "Vokzal" but I guess the website moderator or whoever posted those lyrics mixed the titles up. The title is actually Sneg (at least this is what sunny said) :) I LOVE THIS SONG SNEG!!!!!

huh... guys, so finally YOU are confused mith the titles of these 2 songs :gigi: It's really confusing. U see, it happened so that both songs are slow, with the winter mood... and the most confusing thing is that Vokzal's firts line is 'Стелется граммами-метрами под ногами снег.' And Sneg begins with 'Серый вокзал завязал, холодными ветрами - секретами'. See what I mean? :rolleyes: This thing makes ppl confused. I also had difficulties with recognizing the titles. So I switched on Media Player and as it writes the information on the song [like title, even if it's different from the name of the file]... well, I got the idea how to call those songs. Besides, 'Тай, тай, тай на руках моих снег' looks like a logical refrain to the song with the name Sneg, right?
Oh, and there's one more problem... Glukoza, as well as Zemfira and Tatu, has complicated lyrics. So it's sometimes impossible to get what she sings. Like with this line of Vokzal. It can be:

Smash - Freeway - Well they do look a little gay. I don't know if they intended it. It sounds good though, like something from the 80s - Russians love 80s :)
Dima Bilan - Ya popal - Nothing special... he's ok I guess.
VIA GRA - Ubey moyu podrugu (Kill my girlfriend). - To be honest I didn't really lilke them. They are from my home town btw (I think). The video was a little funny but still nothing special
Diskoteka Avariya - Nebo - The guy's voice is overly annoying and the lyrics are dumb too, so I didn't even finish listening it... I don't know why it's so popular... :dknow:
Fabrika - Pro lyubov - The girls are very cute and sexy :yes: However the song is kind of cheesy...
Mihail Grebenschikov - Bulki - This guy IS crazy. Actually the video turned out pretty well (except for the parts with his underware, his sexist lyrics and slightly annoying voice).
Gluk'OZA - Nevesta - This video was probably my favorite on the list. The whole cartoon idea is kind of cool where she repeats the plot of Tarantino's Kill Bill, borrows a little from The Matrix and a litle from everything else. The song is also a mix of Pulp Fiction style music and Aguzarova voice. Overall it's a cool video :)
Gluk'OZA - Sneg - This is a lovely song and it does bring that winter mood... I like the song even more than Nevesta
Mumiy Trol' - Bear - All I can say is ... EWWW!!! I never liked the band but this was just tasteless and very vulgar. I must admit it was a little funny though (just a little bit)

well, D, u if u saw the vid, u understood that Glukoza is an animated creature. Even at her concerts she always has some screens behind her with wonderful animation of all the kinds. She also has a symbol that appears in ever video and concert - black doberman. Girl really has this dog and loves it a lot. So doberman is usually both on the screens and on the stage [when it's possible of course]. And U are right finding something from Japan animations about Glukoza. Her first video - Nenavizhu - was like the one u saw but everything was happening in some huge asian city judging from the tribes written everywhere. It's the part of the image... it's how it was planned to be... and music has to follow the image [or vice versa], right? ;)

she did wrote all the music and lyrics. But she was an infamous school-girls then. And she just was lucky enough to get into the sight of one of the most famous producers of Russia - Max Fadeev. One who produced Linda and TOTAL. He's a talented guy with good ideas and he was working on this 'project' for some years before the first video of Glukoza appeared on tv screens. Yes, Glukoza is a project. Well thought out and planned. But Natasha Ivanova is a real girl and qite talanted one. She sings, she's the author of the songs... Max just helped to improve the image... he shot her some videos and made some promotion. He loves this project a lot. So, I don't think u should mean the word 'project' in a negative way.

sure I saw this girl on TV she's a popular person now. I saw her taking part in some shows, and even the programe 'Let's go' that just follows the singer during the tour. All I can say... she's nice person, definitely not stupid... a bit shy but has her drive... smiles a lot but doesn't act in front of camera. I mean if she was tired, she didn't pretend she was not. She was like 'i'm tired, so u'd better leave me alone and annoy those guys from my band'. What else... she adores dogs... she's very young but acts mature enough.
About the voice... it's made with computer in the most of the songs. It's obvious, i think. It's just the style she's recognized for. But in 'Sneg' it sounds like her natural one: young, a bit shy but stubborn.

In shcool I had this nickname - Gluk [SP- short way to say hallucination]. So we just decided to continue the word and came to Gluk'OZA idea. the cartoon appeared 1.5 years ago. it was drawn by a very good artist Evdokimov Andrey. And although originally that corrtoon gorl with doberman was something I drew at some shcool lesson, we invided professional artist to do the video.

I don't attend any. The huge concert tour begins in September. I just don't have any time to study now.

I don't feel ashamed as I'm not lying. I got to Eralash derectly 'from the street'. Some ppl came to me on the street and invited to act in a movie. And then I had to come through casting with other kids. And yes, I acted in video by Yury Shatunov. And it also was a pure luck. 4 years ago we were skiing with friends in Krasnogorsk and Yura was shooting his vid there. They invided girls to the casting. I tried my luck and got the role of the fan. There are much more accidents in this life than U think.

They are very glad. When I was in school, I was interested only in the 'street'. They wanted to occupy me with anything. That's why music appeared in my life - what happened really suddenly - they were on the 7th cloud from happiness.

Also, Mihalchik is an amazing talent, her vocal abilities in La Mia Anima blew me away... so fast! and those smooth vocalizations.... mwa!
As for ESC, Savicheva's Song at ESC, Believe Me, well... it's not nearly as good as Vysoko, she should preform Vysoko... REALLY.... she could win with that.... but not this Believe Me song... nope, nope... doesn't really fit her either, that song, Vysoko does...

mmm... I thought I'll add this link. It's the Friday concert of FZ-4. The full version. These are new kids that try their luck now. Lots of crap to be frank but there's a song that I like a lot. It's written and sang by one of the candidates to leave the show (well, no intrigue. concert took place a couple of weeks ago. she DID stay) Irina Dubtsova (first of the last 3 to introduced by the host in the beginning of the show) 'O nyom'. So touching and emotional... I love it. I watched all of it actually. :D it was a bit painful in some parts, but it was interesting seeing the russian "stars" and how many styles and images are represented: pop/rock/hiphop. Such as the guy.....i don't know his name. I think his song was called "two minutes". He looks just like an American hiphop artist!
I enjoyed the song by Irina a lot. it was a very emotional piece of music. I think she stood out a little more than the other kids. I like her. :gigi:
...oh, and that performance by Smash!! was totally gay :D It was hard to take them seriously. :p
Oh, and I couldn't understand what was going on at the end of the show. were they bringing her back or something?

well ..downloading completed ... I pushed the forward button to at Time 1:00:00.. watched a girl that I think danced and singing like Britney ..I thought it was her ..then the host said something .. 3 people on the stage .. and the poll result on the screen ..can't see clearly .. then one by one they came and gave the girl in the brown shirt those stars plate .. I thought she was winning . then it become strange when she looked sad and more sad and more sad .. so I was ..okay ..they giving her goodbye plates...and its hard to see how much she got .. Then the show end .. I scrolled back to around Time 0:53.00 ..showing some clips of that sad girl .. why she always crying? then her performance .. and she cried during that singing ..and after the song too ...must be a really sad song...she looked really sad... looks like real tears...and after the singing when the host is telling something .. she placed her hand on her chest ...its like to hold her heart or something ...
I agree, its really touching situation .. well .. I watched wrong girl at first .. and then watched what happened in the end and then only went back to watch the real girl ....

Well... the most interesting part is that she's not always like that. The reason she was nominated (the commision agree that she's may be the most talented one there) was that she had only one strong shadow in her image and they wanted her to try something new (all nominated guys have solo numbers in the end). Well and that her constant image was - A Bitch. If u look at that clip (the one before the performance) attentively, U'll see the fragments of her previous concert performance. She's singing 'The Bear' with Mummy Troll and wears her usual bitchy face. And all previous concerts were like that. But this time she sang her own song filled with her emotions. They can't leave the house there so she misses her bf a lot, guess that's why she was so sad. And some parts of that video where she was crying were taken after the short phone talks they can have. As for the final part when the voting took place. Well... 3 guys were nominated. One (the boy) was saved by televoters. The rest of the kids had to save one of the remaining two girls and say one they make such a choice. The reason of her tears is clear in this case. You saw the voting. Almost all guys gave her her stars and each was telling what an amasing person she was, how much they loved her and how damn talented she was... blah blah blah. She never heard so many good words in her address in her life I guess. besides, guys become friends very fast there and each of such voting is always hard and full with tears. They don't want to loose friends they found. Wait a bit more when 10-8 kids will remain and they all will become so close that even teachers will be crying rivers... :d It's always so.
Gonna watch the show tonight. Most of the songs are crap but from time to time some really good songs appear especially closer to the end of the show when guys find there individuality and begin to write songs themselves. Tonight Romeo&Juliet of FZ-4 are nominated. Guess both will stay as everyone wants to see if their love is strong enough to convince the strict father of the girl. Looks like he's not any pleased seeing his daughter falling in love with some street rapper. :rolleyes:
